What we know

The group earned several individual and team titles at DMC in the 1990s and early 2000s, including the 1999 World Team Championship. Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Mr Thing are among the DJs linked to its history.

Elsewhere on the bill, JFB is preparing a set using seven Technics turntables. Monie Love returns to an event tied to the start of her career.

The competition has four categories. Classic is the routine-based format, Open allows a wider range of modern gear, Scratch focuses on technical scratching, and Supremacy is a head-to-head battle.

The announcement brings one of the most influential British turntablist collectives back to the competition that helped build its reputation. The group became closely tied to the British turntablism scene, where DJs developed increasingly technical approaches to scratching, mixing and manipulating vinyl.

Their work went beyond competition routines into club sets, DJ mixes and collaborations that introduced turntablism to wider audiences.

Why it matters

DMC began in London in 1985 and has helped launch the careers of DJs such as A-Trak and Mix Master Mike. A reunion in the same city links past champions with the current generation of competitors.

Tickets and details are on the official DMC World DJ Championships website. If you are in London for the weekend, you can look at other nights out on RaveConnects, such as Terminal V London.
