Mathame, the Italian sibling duo behind "Many Times", have launched an independent record label called NEO Records. The brothers shared the news on social media and describe it as the start of a new chapter for melodic techno.

At a glance

  • Who: Mathame
  • What: A new independent label, NEO Records
  • Focus: Melodic techno and emerging talent
  • Next: Three shows during Amsterdam Dance Event, then a Halloween slot supporting Anyma

What we know

The label takes its name from NEO, the duo's touring event series. NEO is an immersive storytelling concept, and it has a follow-up audio-visual show called NEOLOGY. Since 2024 the AV show has reached major stages, including Tomorrowland and a residency at Amnesia in Ibiza.

According to the duo's post, the new project will focus on keeping emotion within technology and technology within emotion. They also say it is a space for emerging artists. The label has not yet named its newcomers.

The report does list artists who have worked with Mathame for years or appeared on NEO lineups: ZHU, Lyke, Gordo, Parisi, 19:26, Dubfire and Jast.

What comes next

The duo's busy autumn continues next weekend with three shows during Amsterdam Dance Event. On Halloween night they will play support for Anyma's new ÆDEN show. Anyma, also Italian, started his own independent label, ÆDEN, a few months ago. You can find Anyma presents Æden on our site.

After that, Mathame have a few more dates in Europe and South America. They will bring NEO to Santiago, Chile, and NEOLOGY to Pacha Brooklyn.

Why it matters

More artists are building their own labels to control their sound and to give younger acts a place to start. Mathame already have a recognisable live brand, so the label gives it a home for releases as well as shows.
