The City of Indio has decided not to fine Goldenvoice after the final night of Head Trip ran past curfew. Swedish House Mafia's closing set at the one-off dance festival at the Empire Polo Club ended more than 30 minutes after the city's midnight Sunday cutoff, according to a report from Palm Springs station KESQ cited by EDM Maniac.

At a glance

  • What happened: Swedish House Mafia finished at roughly 12:33am on Monday, past the midnight Sunday curfew
  • Potential fine: about $48,000 under the permit terms
  • Decision: no penalty, because of weather disruption on the opening night
  • Venue: Empire Polo Club, Indio, where Goldenvoice also produces Coachella

What we know

Goldenvoice's permit for the site requires performances to end by 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and by midnight on Sundays. Breaking curfew carries an initial $20,000 penalty, plus $1,000 for every minute over, starting six minutes after the cutoff. On those terms, Sunday's overrun could have cost the promoter around $48,000.

The city issued a statement explaining that it would not penalise Goldenvoice because of what happened on the first night. A lightning alert forced organisers to suspend the programme and evacuate the grounds at around 9pm. That interrupted the Under Construction set from Chris Lake and FISHER and meant Calvin Harris never made it to the stage.

To save the weekend's headline performances, organisers reworked Sunday's schedule to fit Calvin Harris in ahead of Swedish House Mafia. Several set times moved, and the final night was extended beyond its permitted close.

Why it matters

Curfew penalties are a real cost for promoters working at the Empire Polo Club, and the city's decision shows that weather emergencies can be taken into account. It also means Goldenvoice avoids a sizeable bill after a debut event that was already disrupted.

For fans, the bigger takeaway is that the headliners who were rained off still got to play. Calvin Harris has a busy 2027 ahead, including his first North American headline tour, and Swedish House Mafia continue their run of major shows, such as their Ibiza closing party.
