What we know

Experimental dubstep act Of The Trees is the newest addition and plays on New Year's Day. Also on January 1 are bass artists such as Jessica Audiffred, GorillaT, LYNY B2B Peekaboo, NGHTMRE, Space Laces, Taiki Nulight, TroyBoi and Flosstradamus.

The same day brings house names including Archie Hamilton, Joshwa, Loud Luxury, Ranger Trucco, Wax Motic and TOBEHONEST, plus Marshmello and Alesso. Latin electronic duo RØZ and a B2B set from Mija and sim0ne are also listed for January 1.

New Year's Eve itself leans on bass and house. Subtronics, Deathpact, DJ Diesel, HOL!, Smoakland, Zingara and S.Y.N (SVDDEN DEATH, yvm3 and Nimda) are on the bill, alongside Tchami, James Hype, Matroda, Oliver Heldens, Walker & Royce and R3HAB.

Why it matters

Countdown NYE is one of the biggest New Year's events in the US dance calendar, and the return to San Bernardino marks a change of scene for regulars. Splitting the bill by day makes it easier to choose a night that suits your taste. Find the full details on the Countdown NYE page.

The two-night format gives each day its own character. December 31 mixes heavy bass with house and techno acts, while January 1 stretches from bass and house to mainstream EDM headliners. That spread should suit both longtime bass fans and people who prefer a groovier sound.

Single-day passes go on sale this Wednesday, November 4, at 12PM PT. Tickets and more information are available at countdownnye.com, so it is worth setting a reminder if you plan to go.
